The 550 secondary students attend school of their choice. The tuition for each student, up to the state average for secondary students, is paid by the local communities. Last year, 90 percent of the secondary students enrolled at Lincoln Academy in Newcastle. Founded in 1801, Lincoln Academy is one of eight private academies across Maine which maintain the traditional role of a private secondary school serving the public trust. The remaining students attended 25 other private and public schools across Maine and beyond.
The commitment to a demanding and relevant curriculum, dedicated and caring teachers, and fostering the spirit of a learning community has guided Lincoln Academy through more than 200 years of service to our surrounding communities.
